Yes, as the title to this review says, I just ordered another of the DCM2500B Smart Brew coffee makers for our home. Not that we need two of them, this one is a replacement for the same unit that finally burnt out after 3 years of daily use, sometimes two and three times a day! To be honest, I'm not so sure it burnt out from overuse either. I'm thinking it was an over-voltage power condition we were having since we moved in.

I have monitored the voltage coming into our house and it has varied anywhere between 109 volts on the low end to 133 volts on the high end! (Too high voltage will fry about anything, electronic or not!) On top of that, every time our heat pump or anything with a large motor - yes, even the vacuum cleaner! - the lights would dip. Letters to the utility company only yielded canned responses that "everything is normal and within tolerance." Uh, OK, if you say so! It took another house being built nearby to get a new, larger transformer installed on the pole. Funny that the new transformer is rated at more than double the one that was up there! Hummmmm...

Now, things seem to be pretty stable. No more dips and steady 120 volts. Unfortunately, too late to save our trusty coffee maker! Grrrrrrr... Anyway, I'm sure with the steady power at correct voltage, we will have this new coffee maker last a long, long time. (Although I'm tempted to buy a third and stow it away in case B&D stops making it just because it's so good!)

Regarding this coffee maker, it is STILL the best, low priced, coffee maker I've ever found. And as a matter of fact, it's probably the best coffee maker at any price! It's not flashy. There are no gizmos, sexy clocks, multi-colored blinking lights or bleeping beepers. It simply works and makes a GOOD cup of coffee...every time! Set the auto function and bam, it works. Operator error not withstanding. Doh!

Not only will it make great coffee, simply operating it is a pleasure. The top opens nice and wide so it's easy to fill. The basket is big and aligns right up when you drop it in. But, THE most important thing is, THE POT DOES NOT DRIP!! Read it again! This pot does not drip, dribble, or leak! It's got a pointed spout and as long as you don't pour so fast as to overwhelm the spout, you get a nice cup of coffee with no mess on the counter and no "after burn" as so many pots leak coffee down onto the heater/burner after the pour. This pot will NOT disappoint you.

Stop shopping and buy this one now. White or black. It's the best. Black & Decker, PLEASE don't ever stop making this model!

Although I had a functioning coffee maker that had served me for over a decade, I was growing tired of it. I gambled that a new maker might be faster and more pleasant to use. After reading reviews of all the machines, I consulted my own needs and ordered the Cuisinart 10-cup maker.

One thing that intrigued me was the fact that this maker was supposed to adjust to deliver the best possible coffee no matter how many cups you were brewing. I virtually always brew 10 at a time, and I didn't actually expect coffee that tasted any different from what I'd been getting for a decade with my old maker.

I was wrong. The Cuisinart brews the best coffee I've ever served in this house. The flavor is radically better than what I've been getting for a decade. That was almost the last thing I expected. I love this maker and hope it lasts many years. There are two places where you choose a setting based on how many cups you are brewing. I don't know which one is the magic one (maybe both), but I can say unequivocally that this maker brews a lovely cup of java.

Some other observations:

* The profile is low, so I can open my kitchen cabinet doors over the maker. This is critical in my crowded bungalow kitchen.
* It is easy to make coffee without spilling water or coffee grounds. The two chambers involved are large and easily accessed. When you are bleary-eyed and trying to hang on until you get your first cup, you don't want to be fighting a maker with lousy engineering that makes spills almost inevitable.
* The maker brews quickly.
* The "sneak-a-cup" feature works exceptionally well. I've had three other makers with that feature. All were compromised products to one degree or another. When you are brewing with the Cuisinart, you can pull the carafe out at any time and pour yourself a cup. The flow of coffee stops absolutely and does not make a mess.
* The indicator that shows how much water you have put in the maker is easier to read than other makers I've used.

All in all, this is a pleasant coffee maker, easily the nicest I've used. But that hardly matters. To my delight, this maker brews coffee as good as any I have ever found in a restaurant.

I had owned a Bunn in the past...it was a less expensive model than this one, but used the same principle of preheated water in a reservoir ready for coffee. I had had a Braun that lasted for over 10 years and was terrific, but alas, they don't last foreever. I had originally told my wife to replace the coffeemaker, and she came home with a Mr Coffee. It cost somewhere around , and while not thrilled with it (I'm the coffee drinker in the family) decided to try it out. The Mr Coffee required cleaning more regularly than any other I had ever used, and after six months, even after cleaning with white vinegar, it would take 1/2 hour to make a large pot of coffee. On top of that, it would sputter and 10 cups of water would become 8 and the coffee would be incredibly bitter.

So, decided to go back and look for something more premium. Here's what I like about the Bunn:

--Brews 10 cup pot in about three minutes
--Preheated water doesn't mean "boiling"...coffee is hot and at right temperature
--Coffee tastes better.
--Carafe pours easily
--BTW it looks great on the counter

The drawback that one person pointed out is that this could cost you more in energy. You do have the option (you didn't have this with "older" Bunn models) of switching on and off for when you are going to be away...I switch off for the weekend if I'm going to be away and then fire back up on Sunday PM. The way I look at it is that using the energy saver means that you are going to have to wait 15 minutes for coffee. You will have that with ANY coffeemaker WITHOUT a reservoir, so don't see that as a drawback. But if you are like me and rushed in the morning, having the reservoir means having great coffee when you wake up without having to set the timer.

I'm glad I switched back to a Bunn. Great quality machine, and convenience makes up for any drawback you could try to point out.

You also can't go wrong buying this at Amazon, especially if you are Prime. This same coffeemaker was at Wal Mart.
